The cornerstone of optimal performance: S-A-N!

Sleep Icon.pngSleep is critical in achieving optimal physical, mental and emotional health, however, the demands of one's job often make it difficult to get sufficient sleep.  In training and on the battlefield, in adequate sleep impairs many abilities that are essential to the mission, such as detecting and appropriately determing threat levels and coordinating squad tactics.

Activity Icon.pngActivity is more than just "exercise" or "working out" - it's living an active lifestyle.  Whether it's walking the dog, doing yard work, or playing with your kids, regular movement throughout the day inspires positive health outcomes over time.

Nutrition Icon.pngNutrition plays an important role in your daily life.  A well-blanced and nutritious diet is part of the foundation of maintaining peak performance and good health.

The Performance Triad is a comprehensive U.S. Army initiative that is the foundation for Army Medicine's transformation to a System for Health.  It is designed to improve readiness and increase resilience through public health programs and leadership engagement.  The components of the Performance Triad are Sleep, Activity, and Nutrition.  Although the strength of the Army is its Soldiers, individual performance directly impacts unit readiness.  The health and wellness of the Force is critical to the Army remaining mission ready and fit to fight.
