Commander Sergeant Major - Biography
First Sergeant Berry enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1985 and attended Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training, as a 19D, at Fort Knox, KY.  He joined active duty in 1998 and served until 1992 before leaving active duty.  First Sergeant Berry rejoined the Army in 2004 and re-classed as a 68W and attended Basic Training in Fort Benning, GA, and Advanced Individual Training in Fort Sam Houston, TX.
 
His initial assignment was to the Detachment 1, Troop A, 1st Squadron Calvary, where he served as a Calvary Scout.  After 3 years, he joined active duty then being stationed with 1st Squadron, 2nd Armored Calvary Regiment out of Bindlach, Germany, guarding the East German, Czech boarder.  He would later deploy in support of Desert Storm/Desert Shield, Kuwait/Iraq, OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, Kuwait and Iraq as a Bradley Gunner.  He left active service in 1992.  After 6 years he reentered service as a Combat Medic, 68W.  His initial assignment was with the 4th Sustainment Brigade, 4th Infantry Divsion, from 2004 – 2009, Fort Hood, TX.  Upon completion of his tour in Fort Hood, he was assigned to Fort Sam Houston, TX and served from 2009 – 2012 as an Instructor/Writer.  Upon completion of his tour in Fort Sam Houston, he was reassigned to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) as a Senior Enlisted Leader of Department of Medicine, from 2012 - 2105.  After his tour of WRNMC he served one year in Camp Red Cloud Korea from 2015 -2016.  He is currently stationed in Fort Lee, VA as the acting Sergeant Major, Kenner Army Health Clinic.
 
His military and civilian education includes the Small Group Instructor Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officer’s Course, Primary Leadership Development Course, Equal Opportunity Leader Course, Unit Victim Advocacy Course, Emergency Medical Technician Course, Basic Trauma Life Support, and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Course.  First Sergeant Berry currently holds an Associate of General Studies from Central Texas College, Bachelor of Science (Health Care Management) from DeVry University and a Master Degree of Public Administration with Keller School of Management.
