Commander - Biography
LTC Brett H. Venable is a Distinguished Military Graduate of Old Dominion University. He received his commission in the Medical Service Corps while earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology, graduating magna cum laude. LTC Venable attended graduate school at Syracuse University where he earned a Master of Business Administration from the Whitman School of Management and a Master of Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.
LTC Venable assumed command of Kenner Army Health Clinic on June 19, 2015.  Previous assignments include: Chief of Staff, Reynolds Army Community Hospital, Fort Sill, OK; Commander, Medical Task Force Shelby, Camp Shelby, MS; Chief, Resource Management Division/Chief Financial Officer, Landstuhl Regional Medical Center; Landstuhl, Germany; Deputy Commander for Administration and Chief, Business Operations, Heidelberg MEDDAC, Heidelberg, Germany; S4, Medical Task Force 10, Baghdad, Iraq; S4/Chief, Logistics, 10th Combat Support Hospital, Fort Carson, CO; Deputy Chief, Logistics, Bassett Army Community Hospital; Commander, C Co, 172d Support Battalion, 172d Separate Infantry Brigade, Fort Wainwright, AK; S1/Adjutant and Combat Health Support Officer, 626th Forward Support Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault); Medical Platoon Leader, 2-187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, KY; and Chief, Personnel Operations, 18th MEDCOM, Korea.
LTC Venable’s military education includes the AMEDD Officer Basic Course (Honor Graduate), Combined Logistics Captains Career Course (Distinguished Honor Graduate), Combined Arms Services Staff School and Command and General Staff College.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (5 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (3rd Device) and Army Meritorious Unit Commendation. He has earned the Expert Field Medical Badge, Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault Badge. Foreign awards include the German Schutzenschnur and German Armed Forces Military Proficiency Badge in Gold.
LTC Venable is the 2015 recipient of the Military Excellence in Healthcare Management Award presented by the American College of Healthcare Executives. His other honors include the Army ACHE Senior-Level Healthcare Executive Award, the Army Medical Department’s Excalibur Award, and induction into the Order of Military Medical Merit.
His professional credentials include being board certified in healthcare management and a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. He is also a Certified Defense Financial Manager and holds active memberships in the American Society of Military Comptrollers and the International Business Honor Society Beta Gamma Sigma.
